LIVING WITH PCOS

Priscilla Solvabarro’s journey with polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is five years in the making.

After her diagnosis in 2010, she did not take a proactive role regarding her health until almost four years after the initial doctor’s appointment.

PCOS is a hormonal imbalance that occurs in approximately one in ten and one in 20 women of childbearing age, which can affect a woman’s menstrual cycle, ability to have children, and her appearance.

“I felt so overwhelmed, like I didn’t know where to start… PCOS has so many fronts that you can take; there’s the nutrition, the aesthetic part. So I didn’t know where to start until last November,” she says.

Solvabarro now receives support related to her PCOS from websites like pcosdiva.com and Meet-Up groups, including PCOS**t!, a group started in 2013 for women in Los Angeles with the condition.
