Superhero made by DC
to appear in what we now
know as a comic book.
He made his debut in 1935.
Ebony White showed up in
Will Eisner’s The Spirit
throughout the 1940s.
His character design is
controversial, but he was
one of the first black
characters in comic books
that started to gain some
complexity.
Lobo is the first known black comic book
hero. His series ran for two issues, and was
released in late 1965 – a total 30 years after
the first comic book superhero showed up.
